Located in the south-eastern part of the city of Latina, Piazza Ilaria Alpi is one of the place identified by the UPPER UIA project in Latina as a demonstration site for the planting of new plant species to counteract the increase in temperature, linked to the heat island effect. Tesserae was responsible for the co-design activitiies of the project.
UPPER is a project financed by Urban Innovative Actions to transform misused and abandoned green and concrete areas of the urban and peri-urban space of the city of Latina (Italy) into Productive Parks (PP) devoted to research, technological development and self-production of advanced and innovative nature-based solutions to tackle environmental, socio-economic and governance challenges. Tesserae is responsible for the digital communication – website, social media and realisation of 30 UPPER Stories- and will take care of the Co-design Workshops, producing a methodological manual for these workshops and the guidelines resulting from the participative process.
Tesserae co-founder Laura Colini, in her position as URBACT Programme Thematic expert and UIA expert, designed, coordinated the initiative, drafted the website text, podcasts and conferences involving – thanks to the two EU programme team for this activity – external experts, researchers and activists.
